President U Win Myint honours MOATTAMA Gas Transportation Co., Ltd., the Highest Income Taxpayer for 2018-2019 Tax Year

The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar honoured the top taxpayers of the country for 2018-2019 tax year yesterday, 10th August 2020 at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw.

President U Win Myint attended the ceremony and presented awards to the outstanding taxpayers for income tax, commercial tax, and specific goods tax.

U Soe Thaung Myint, Acting General Manager of Moattama Gas Transportation Co., Ltd. (MGTC) received the “Highest Income Taxpayer Award” as Foreign Taxpayer Private Company for 2018-2019 Tax Year.

MGTC has been recognized as the highest income taxpayer by the Internal Revenue Department of Myanmar since the 2013-2014 fiscal year, making this year the sixth consecutive year in the list.

The ceremony was attended by Union Ministers U Kyaw Tint Swe, U Min Thu, U Soe Win, U Thaung Tun, Dr. Aung Thu, U Ohn Win, U Win Khaing, Dr. Than Myint, U Han Zaw and officials.

 

ABOUT MGTC

The Moattama Gas Transportation Company Limited (MGTC) is a gas transportation company that transports natural gas from the offshore Yadana Gas Field to Thailand via its 36” pipeline since 1998. The daily export capacity to Thailand is approximately of 600 MMSCFD (~12% of the Thai gas consumption).

Total Exploration & Production Myanmar (TEPM) is the Operator of the MGTC Consortium with a 31.2% interest of Total along with its partners Chevron Global Ventures (28.3%), PTTEPOI (25.5%) and MOGE (15%).

MGTC has been recognized as the highest income taxpayer by the Internal Revenue Department of Myanmar since the 2013-2014 fiscal year.

As part of its commitment towards Myanmar and its local communities, MGTC has implemented since 1995 major Socio-Economic programs in the pipeline area in Tanintharyi to improve health, enhance access to education and skills development, access to energy, economic development through micro finance, etc. Such programs benefit to 33 villages with around 45,000 people and have become along the years a world class reference in term of CSR and an asset for Myanmar.

MGTC is also actively involved in the Myanmar Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (MEITI) process.
